Module Overview
This module focuses on the important topic of what it means to be a leader of an early childhood program and will help you develop your own leadership style from the inside out. Research provides compelling evidence that capable leadership is one of the strongest predictors of high-quality early childhood programming. This module stresses the point that there isn’t one best leadership style that all directors should emulate. To the contrary; inspirational leaders come in all shapes and sizes.

After completing Leading the Way, you will be able to:
- Identify and describe the skills and competencies required for effective leadership
- Examine the values and beliefs that shape leadership behavior while also determining a compelling program vision and mission statement
- Interpret one’s unique leadership style
- Identify and apply ways to use your influence to empower others
