Strategies and techniques for supporting children and families is the 2nd unit of the NCFE Level 3 Award for Special Educational Needs Coordinators in Early Years Settings program.
The aim of this unit is for the learner to consider strategies and techniques for supporting children and their families with Special Educational Needs and Disability in early years settings.

Learning Outcomes
This unit has following learning outcomes:
1: Understand the graduated approach in an early years setting
2: Understand English as an additional language (EAL)
3: Understand Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans
4: Be able to practice as a reflective Early Years Practitioner
Learning and Assessments
The training is held by a team of specialists in the learning management system. Units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include:
1: Written assignments or tasks* such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts, or diagrams, or setting up an information board.
2: Portfolio of evidence
3: Reflection on the real work environment
The grading system for the qualification is Achieved or Not Achieved, all the assessment criteria for the unit must be achieved to be certified.
