Family Engagement

Introduction:

This two-hour class is designed to help child care professionals promote family engagement and assess program practices related to family involvement. The class will focus on understanding the difference between family involvement and family engagement, identifying Relationship-Based Competencies to Support Family Engagement, and describing strategies to encourage family engagement.

Learning Outcomes:

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the difference between family involvement and family engagement
• Identify Relationship-Based Competencies to Support Family Engagement
• Describe strategies to encourage family engagement

Duration:

The course duration is two clock hours, which equals 0.2 continuing education units (CEUs).

Training Facilitator:

The course content is adapted from a conference session presented by Jewel Davis. Davis is a certified child care trainer with more than 20 years of experience in early childhood education.

Assessment:

Participants will be assessed through a multiple-choice quiz at the end of the course. A passing score of 80% or higher is required to receive a certificate of completion.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion from Child Care Lounge.
